hi it's me, blue! i'm a 22-year-old sometimes-student who likes computer science, nerd shit, and making interesting stuff. i'm migrating here from tumblr and not quite sure how to use all these features yet, but am optimistic about learning.

Re: procgen text: do you do IF, or mostly non-interactive works?

hello! these look useful, i will check them out. :)

so far i’ve mostly been dabbling in non-interactive stuff - i did nanogenmo this year and it was really fun, and i have a twitterbot at @whitecollarbot that generates fake white collar episode summaries (procedurals are good for that, lmao)

I've really only seen, like, one NaNoGenMo entry from literally years ago, but the concept absolutely tickles me to no end. What did you do for it?

I knew I wanted to do Something With Plants, and Something With Poetry, and after some brainstorming I decided to focus on the sound/meter aspects of poetry, since emulating the semantic structure or meaning sounded hard. So I ended up taking my source text from a bunch of wikipedia pages about plants, and then stepping through them looking at the next word, scoring it and all its synonyms based on patterns of syllable stress and how similar it sounded to the previous words. And then sometimes if it can't find a synonym with a high enough score it jumps to a different point in the source text. This is the result (warning: big PDF). I'd link to the repo but my github's got more personal information associated with it than I'd like to share. >.>

hannah and the twelve-disk tower of hanoi (i swear i've seen a completed version of this but tumblr seems to have hidden the post for adult content,)

Ohh, that! You know, I'm assuming it springs from the similarity thing, but I was interested to see that [ANTHROPOMORPHISM ALERT] it seemed to be grasping for the poetic device of repetition [/AA]. I quite liked "Striped Maple".

+ coughcough you've caught me out, Annals of the Parrigues is the one NNGM entry from literally years ago that I saw :'D
